Bettina Krause, news director for the half-hour program, says NewsLine will build on the news tradition of Adventist News Network, which for the past eight years has used the Internet, e-mail and fax to send weekly news releases from the church's world headquarters to church members, Adventist media, and the secular media around the world.

"There will be a core reporting team working here at church headquarters," says Krause. "But we're also preparing a number of people in each of the church's twelve divisions, or regions, who will be regular NewsLine correspondents. Our focus is on making this program truly representative of our worldwide church family." "I'm very excited about NewsLine," she says. "Our team is passionate about informing our family members around the world. Adventist NewsLine will make us feel closer together, aware of events happening in our church, and ultimately will reaffirm our faith as we wait to go home".

Julio Munoz, correspondent for NewsLine, is a veteran of eight years production and reporting for the church and church entities, including the Adventist Development and Relief International and Adventist Communication Network. In all, he has covered stories in more than 35 countries.

"A church with over 12 million members and growing by the minute, we face a tremendous challenge of remaining one cohesive unit--working with one mission," says Munoz. "I believe Adventist NewsLine has the potential to reach the church worldwide with up-to-the-minute news and information, so that as our church grows, it can grow together."

Garrett Caldwell, a teacher, pastor and communicator for the past 17 years, is a graduate of Oakwood College and Andrews University, and is currently a Doctor of Ministry student at Wesley Theological Seminary. As NewsLine's regular host for interviews and panel discussions, Caldwell brings to the project a commitment to showcasing church life around the world"in all its diversity and vibrancy--and to keeping church members informed about key leadership decisions.

"I think Newsline is so important because it will show how God's story is being told today through the work of the church and in the lives of His people," says Caldwell. "The Spirit of God is just as real and the issues facing the church just as critical as those faced by the early church and recorded in the Bible, and this story must be told."

Adventist NewsLine will be a presentation of Adventist Television Network. It will be produced each week at the church's world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States, and will be broadcast on the church's worldwide satellite network.
